![]() ![]() ![]() IMO it’s not actually very well advertised, the access to the GitBook. So Peter, I can find the support page you refer to by going to the Audacity main web page, selecting Help > Help Center > then selecting the FFmpeg Installing FFmpeg how-to tutorial below. This enhancement request is that it makes much more sense for the app to be chanhed so the the FFmmpeg Download button link goes direct to the GitBook page:įlagging as the Muse person responsible for documentatioin Therefore in the short term I plan to pro tem remove the information in the Manual's pages and replace those with a link to the GitBook page. Since the Manual is planned to be deprecated and superseded by the GitBook support site - and given that the GitBook site already has FFmpeg download information for all three platforms - it makes no sense to maintain the information in both places. The user should not be sent to the Manual from this link, nor be sent to this link via the Manual.Ĭurrently the Manual has pages with information on FFmpeg download, it is suspected (from a Forum post) that this not kept up to date. The FFmpeg **Download** link from Libraries prefs should link to … the GitBook page: If the Muse instructions on that GitBook page are faulty or erroneous then you would need to log that as a bug on Muse’s GitHub Issue tracker: GitHub And then Muse is responsible for maintaining that. Since Muse’s plan is ultimately to deprecate the Manual, removing it in favor of the GitBook support site I think that rather than struggling to keep the instructions in the Manual up to date I may just link from the Manual to that GitBook page. Please see: Installing FFmpeg - Audacity Support I have fixed that for the upcoming 3.2.2 Manual.īUT - note that these pages in the Manual are now officially superseded by the new GitBook documentation that Muse have provided. I changed that long ago on the Windows download FFmpeg page removing the advice about not left-clicking - but somehow I forgot to do that for the Mac download FFmpeg page. ![]() ![]() This is where the fun really starts - I ended up with about 20 windows open, just going around in circles.Ĭan anyone please in simple terms, tell me where I’m going wrong, or direct me to a useful link, (not one that sends me in annoying circles). When I go to the Audacity site here: Installing FFmpeg for Mac, it says to left-click, not right-click, although when I right-click to open in a new tab or window so I can keep the instructions on the page and that seems to work - so why does it say this? So I get to the Buanzo site and click over all of the lame stuff, which is apparently obsolete. I have searched through all the Windows Audacity folders - nothing there. When I click on Edit > Preferences > Libraries, I have 2 choices: (It goes on to say… Audacity did not recognise this file…Try installing FFmpeg) Go to Edit > Preferences > Libraries to download or locate the FFmpeg libraries. I want to open an mp3 file, (apparently, you don’t need to manually install a lame_enc.dll file anymore, as it is included automatically) File / Import / Audio / (choose a track from my collection) I get an error window:įFmpeg not found. I will attach some screenshots, but to explain: I’ve been very happily using Audacity for a number of years because it’s excellent, but just downloaded Audacity 2.4.2 onto a new Windows 10 PC & I’m slowly going mad ![]()
